Can't beat a night filled with those right?
As the kids finished up dinner and began their crazy I am tired, read me stories, put me to bed routine, a neighbor friend came over and asked if G-Man could have a late night. Then Bee threw a fit because she wasn't going to have one too. Eric was walking around like death came over him, poor guy got what T-Rex must have had, just not as bad, meaning not having to be hospitalized. My phone rang, and it was a dear friend from Texas.
"Hey Corrine want to go see a movie."
"Ummm I don't live in Texas anymore."
"I know, we are in Utah."
"Cool, I'd love to." followed by me telling Eric that I was going and called my sister in law to see if she wanted to go with me too, she wanted too but my brother was too tired to watch the kids, so she couldn't go, but she helped me give in to Bee's woe is me I have no friends fit, and let her come spend the night.
Well I met up with my friends, actually I waited out side the Provo theater watching all the college couples cuddling and holding hands, and some awkward talking first daters, and flashed back to my single days and for a brief moment felt like an insecure single gal. But my friends showed up and we rushed to find seats together before the totally sold out opening day debut of "Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past"
After insurmountable amounts of previews the movie began. And let me tell you Mathew McConoughey (not sure if that is how you spell his name) is one of my favorite pieces of eye candy and going to see one of his movies you expect at least a little flashing of his nice pecs or guns..but there really was no skin...kudos to that, but if you were to ask me if I recommended the movie, I'd have to say no, don't see it. The company was awesome, some scenes really made me laugh, coke was great but movie was um...well not so great. In my opinion.
I think many of the viewers felt the same since I would say about half of the audience got up and left the movie. I have never seen that happen before. I wonder if it was because like me they were disappointed by not seeing Matt's pecs?? Maybe or the fact that they had all spent the day at a spiritually uplifting Women's conference and this movie wasn't quite there.
Though I think I am going to go with the chest theory. But too bad those ladies didn't hang on to the end of the movie when the moral of the story kicked in along with the diet coke.
You know the lines of people in the ladies restrooms after a movie, that is usually longer than the lines at walmart at 11 o'clock at night when they decide to have an associate meeting and leave only 3 people working registers with at least 20 people in line, yeah that long of a line. Well I am guessing that since half the women left the theater, the bathroom wasn't as crowded so no lines.
So we go in to do our little after movie ritual. And I unlock my door, and start walking to the sink, and see my reflection in the mirror, stare a little, not because I am vain but because I swore I was wearing a red shirt not a white and tan shirt. As I got a little closer to the mirror, I realized that for some reason my shirt was up and over my bra, bearing all to the poor skinny gal primping herself for her date outside waiting.
I quickly pulled down my shirt with as much dignity as I could muster, covering up my lovely muffin top and my not so Mathew chest, and never mind the fact that my underwear almost reached the bottom of my bra....poor poor gal, what a sight to see, I am sure that wasn't the chest she was hoping to see, when she came to watch the movie.
I put my hands under the faucet and doubled over in laughter, luckily the sink was there to hold me, and fortunately I had just used the toilet or I would have wet my pants. I couldn't contain my laughter. Nor could the others near me. I had tears streaming down my face, and water dripping off my hands, I turned to dry them, but the gal, her friend and my friend were chuckling under the driers, so I high tailed it out of the bathroom, in a burst of laughter.
My friend walked out and said "Do you always take your shirt off to pee?"
And my only response between the laughter was..."I have no idea how I got my shirt so high..."
We didn't get to see Mathews chest but I was willing to bare mine, and no one gave me any beads.
The every changing, forever learning, mom of five children and one husband, sharing life's every day moments.

Flashback Friday: Hawaii
That was THEN: Can you find me? Give you a hit, pink shirt. And all I can say guys is "Chilly Dog"...
This is Now:
It is hard to believe that...ok dating myself here....that was 15 years and some months ago, that the THEN picture was taken. I am thinking I need to find some "Sun In" I was pretty darn blond back then. Grant it, we hit the beach daily and well the "sun in" bottle went with us most times.
It was amazing yesterday how the memories came flooding back to me while we were in Laie. Not only the good memories, but those crazy weird odd feelings of being single and looking, if that makes sense, like I just remember those fun times, but also those "oh he is never going to ask me out" feelings too. I loved college, I had a blast. I miss sometimes the care free feelings, days sleeping in, only worrying about myself and if some guy liked me, but am so glad to be where I am now.
Life just gets better and different, and harder all rolled up in one.
Facebook has brought some long lost friends "back" into my life. It is kind of funny seeing how I am back in the place where I spent my freshman year of college, because being here and "catching" up with these friends, make it feel like I had just gone home for summer break...and all of sudden am back but with four kids and a husband....how did that happen?
So you think I should go blonde again???

The Prayer of all Prayers
Tonight Bee gave the family prayer of all prayers. I was giggling so hard at the end of her FIVE minute prayer, that G-man had to ask what was so funny.
So her prayer went like this more or less:
Thanks for the strength, the love and the giving that Dad gives us. For the strength, and love and giving Mom does for us. Bless us that tomorrow we can have strength to love and give to others. Thanks for others who have given us strength, and love and giving. And we give thanks for the strength and love we share and give. Please help us love to help strengthen our friends and help us give them love.
For about FIVE minutes. It cracked me up and just made me think of the Friends episode when Joey writes for the wedding.
Yeah it truly went something like this (starts around 2:00)
So remember its about having and sharing and loving and strengthening and giving.

Looking for a best friend.....Apply here!
I know you really really want to be my best friend so I thought I'd come up with a few things that you might like to try in order to be my best friend.
I have lots of good friends, even though some days I feel all alone and like no bodies likes me and that I need to go eat some worms, or possibly move to Australia. But I do have great friends, I have always been blessed to have a circle of wonderful friends.
Well I don't know if you have had this problem since being married, and if you aren't married you may not relate, but its hard enough to make a friend but you kind of have to make two friends when you are married. If that makes sense. You know the hubbies have to get a long as well as the wives, and that is not always an easy feet (thats not the right spelling for the connotation that I want to use.... I don't think).
Anyway, so recently I decided (since to be honest I am kind of selfish and self centered, most my thoughts revolve around me and my happiness...yeah I spend my days tending to and being mindful of the needs of others around me but when it comes down to it, its all about me. Pretty sure everyone is like that because really, we spend the most time with ourselves....anyway a whole other tangent which I might get to later, maybe I should book an appointment with a shrink to discuss my nepotism (is that the right word, I need a thesaurus).
So I was saying I have decided forget my husband having friends, I need them. And by golly how hard is it for couples to get together and just have the guys sit around and kind of nod, grunt and scratch or pretend to be totally interested in the football game. I totally think guys watch sports to just zone out the world around them, again another subject for another time.
So onto my search for friends, really it isn't hard and I will be taking applications until the position is filled. Here are a few requirements in no particular order:
1. When my name pops into your mind, when you get a fleeting thought about me, just call me or shoot me an email and say hi.
2. While shopping and you see that cute little something that reminds you of me, buy it and drop it by.
3. Just stop by and hang out with me and talk while I clean out a closet.
4. Call and say "hey I have to run to the.......want to come with me?"
5. Accept my offer to do something nice for you, like watch your kids or clean your bathroom.
6. Don't be offended if I am over at your house and start picking things up and cleaning. I don't know why I do that, because its not like I do that at my own house all the time. I think some days I should be a maid and have a maid, because for some odd reason I like cleaning other people's houses....though I haven't done it for awhile cuz I haven't really hung out at anyone's house lately...just stuck here in my mess with no compulsion to clean.
7. Tell me how wonderful I am (hahah) no really :)
8. Read my blog and leave comments.
9. Some nights girls just need a girls night out, and even if you haven't seen your husband all week because he has been working so hard, you decide you need a break and need to get out and so you call and we head out.
10. Always come to everything I plan and invite you to! Well not always and everything! But if you don't come to five things in a row, you get bumped down big time off my friend's list and its hard to get back up at that point. :)

So funny, and so true!
The world with out kids would be like an ice cream sundae without whip cream and chocolate sauce. Kids just add so much to the world, especially the ever so needed laugh once in awhile.
I wish this story was about one of my children, but its a friend so close enough. Atalia, my friend, and her husband, Rudy, make sure their five year old is content resting in his room, watching tv so they can go and take a nap. They set their alarm so as not to leave Julian alone too long. The alarm goes off, and that is the only sound to be heard in the house.
Atalia gets up to look around for Julian, he is not in his room, nor is he in the family room. They peek into the kitchen to find Julian, with a pair of scissors cutting out the elastic in his underpants and surrounded by ice cream sandwich wrappers. Atalia asks "what are you doing Julian?"
What was he doing? Is stomach was so full, his underwear was too tight. Instead of just taking them off he decided to cut the elastic off. How clever is that? I think I might do that with some of my underwear.
The moral of the story, if you over eat, don't undo a belt loop or unbutton your pants just cut the waste band off!

Trip to California
So my wonderful husband Eric who works with elections and voting systems, gets to travel a lot for work. Well we decided a lot is a relative term. Seems to me and the kids he gets to go a lot. For Eric I think its not as much fun, or a real vacation as we the kids seem to think sometimes. Anyway this past month he has been working on and off in California. So he decided to get me a trip, arranged babysitting for the older three kids, and sent me and Timmy to hang out with him for five days in Northern California. What a blast. I don't know how many know this but I grew up in Northern California and love the bay area. I had forgotten how beautiful it is there.
So Timmy and I flew out on Wednesday Nov. 28. While in a 3 hour layover in SLC we met up with my parents, my niece and nephew (Megan and Jack- Aly's kids) and my friend Sheri. It was fun to just hang out and see them.
Then I was able to meet up with several of my high school buddies! What a wonderful time to sit together and catch up. It had been about 14 years since I had last seen them all. It was crazy how long it had been and then how it seemed we hadn't been apart for very long at all. They all looked so great. As we ate lunch at Pedros we just talked about the "good old days" and caught each other up on the past years that we had missed each other.
One day my friend Kate and her daughter Audrey picked Timmy and me up and we headed for San Francisco, we had a blast! I got to eat yummy clam chowder in a sourdough bowl...mmm tastey! I just had a wonderful time.
Eric and I drove down Highway 1 and took Timmy to the beach for the first time, we went to Twin Lakes, one of my old stomping ground beaches. I sure miss the west coast, didn't think I did, but man I'd love to be able to go back. I really didn't want to leave. Though I was anxious to see Greg, Bethany and Emily. I just had a wonderful time.
